September can feel like a month full of transitions for many of us.

Summer slowly turns to autumn. The leaves begin to change, the nights draw in, and routines start to shift. Children may be starting or returning to school, young people may be heading off to university, homes may suddenly feel quieter with an empty nest, or perhaps you’re beginning a new job or chapter in life.

There can be a lot of change happening all at once.

After a busy summer and a hectic social calendar, September can be an opportunity to slow down. Give yourself time to adjust to new routines, lower your expectations, and listen to what your emotions might be telling you.

There is no right or wrong way to navigate change. There is no rule book or guide for how you should feel, whether the transition is big or small.

If you’re experiencing a lot of change this month, give yourself permission to take your time. Changes, however significant they may seem, can affect our mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Take a moment to acknowledge the emotions and moods that are showing up for you. You don’t have to rush through them or have everything figured out.

What transition are you navigating this September?

If you’re finding change difficult and would like a space to explore how you’re feeling, counselling can offer support. Feel free to get in touch to find out more about how I can help.
